The Buzz On Wynn Las Vegas

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on June 9, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

Wynn Las Vegas, the new mega resort. Steve Wynn originally named the resort “Le Reve” after the renowned painting by Picasso that he owns; he then decided it was not nearly as exciting as the name “Wynn Las Vegas”. Think of the implications – you can win Las Vegas at WYNN!

WYNN on the site of the old Desert Inn will stir excitement in the hearts of any who have stayed at the Desert Inn in the past. There will be ghosts, as well as memories, I’m sure. Steve Wynn is such a magician when it comes to bringing the best to Las Vegas, and he’s certainly on the site of where the best once was! The Desert Inn built in 1950 was the first hotel or resort to use “water features” in the desert. They had the original “Dancing Waters Show” and a fountain at their entrance. The Tournament of Champions (first Las Vegas golf tournament) was broadcast by NBC. The first “tall” structure, an observation tower, The Skyroom was built to overlook the new Strip’s best views. You could see Sunrise Mountain and the twinkling lights that were beginning to show on the desert floor, but Wilbur Clark with all his imagination could not envision this bronzed glass spectacle that is Wynn Las Vegas.

Everyone is anxiously waiting to stay and enjoy this new thrill. Several years in the making, all have watched the cranes and the earth being moved around, and now the phoenix has arisen from the ashes of the old Desert Inn. The water-themed $1.85 billion megaresort has 42-story hotel tower, a three-acre man-made lake, Wynn’s private art collection in an on-site museum, golf course and several private gambling areas.

Wynn megaresort has 2,701 rooms, an average “resort room” is 640 square feet, with special bedding, a sitting area with couch and ottoman, floor to ceiling windows with views of Las Vegas skyline and electronic controls to control the window treatments to shut-out or bring-in those views. The price tag for middle of the week is around $249.00, not exorbitant for the luxury you will enjoy. There is also a selection of suites, including a Tower Suite, Salon, Parlor or Executive Suite. All with the appropriate amenities…and even though the accommodations are out of this world, you’ll be spending more time doing other things.

If you want to shop till you drop, you can break the bank in the shops just as easily as at the casino. Just one item from each shop could do it. A bracelet from Cartier, shoes from Manolo Blahnik, a cute little purse from Judith Lieber. Don’t forget Gizmos, where you can buy toys for big boys! Pick up some Estee Lauder sunscreen, a silk shirt at Brioni for the man in your life, a watch at Wynn & Co., a fancy pen to sign your checks or new sunglasses at W. Ink. A classy jacket from Chanel, some designer fragrance from John Paul Gaultier, an exciting outfit from Oscar de la Renta for lounging around the pool and you’re all set to stay at Wynn Las Vegas for another couple of days…oh oh, we forgot to mention you can pick up a gull-wing Ferrari at Penske-Wynn showroom to drive home.

You can take a day to relax in the sumptuous spa. Get a facial, or a Fresh Brown Sugar Body Treatment for your sugar fix of the day! Try a “Good Luck Ritual” massage, a fung shui experience based on health, wealth, prosperity, happiness and harmony, guaranteeing you all the best at the gaming tables and during your stay in Las Vegas. You might need a special foot treatment after all the shopping; avoid the agony of defeet at the spa.

If you plan to play golf, be prepared to experience one of the greatest golf courses in the world, see elevation changes unlike anywhere else in Vegas. Designed by Tom Fazio along with Steve Wynn, you find 18 holes to take your breath away. Eleven water holes, with a waterfall on 18, 2 marshland areas that use underground water, Pennlinks Bentgrass greens and the best part of all, many old trees, some over 50 years old, that were salvaged from the old Desert Inn golf course and replanted to once more keep watch over play on the course…and all of this right outside your hotel room! If you want to play this 7,042-yard, par 70 course, you must be a guest at Wynn Las Vegas.

After doing all this shopping and putting or gambling that is really what Vegas is all about, you’ll be ready for dinner and a show. Remember the name “Le Reve”, it now is the name of a water show extravaganza, directed by Franco Dragone, a show like no other, which truly reflects on it’s name “The Dream”, theater in the round, so no seat is more than 40 feet away from the action. You merge with the actors in this one.

Elegant dining with an assortment of restaurants to keep you busy for a week at least. Try Red 8 for Hong Kong dim sum and barbecue. The SW Steakhouse fetaures good old American steak enhanced with the flavors of Alsace. Okada, where you will enjoy authentic robata cooking and shushi prepared by Chef Takashi Yagahaski, voted Best New Chef by Food & Wine. Alex with flavors of the Riviera, this one gets 2 Mobil 5 Star awards and the AAA 5 Diamond designation. Corsa Cucina is a delightful cafe and offers an excellent selection of wood-fired pizzas. Tableau offers fine American cuisine and is open for dinner to all guests, however, breakfast and lunch for Tower Suite guests only. Another winner is Daniel Boulurd Brasserie, James Beard award, Four AAA 5 Diamond awards, and three Mobil 5 Star awards. Bartolotta Ristorante de Mare, fresh fish flown in daily plus excellent pasta dishes and enjoy Jimmy Sneed’s over at the Country Club.

The casino offers every table game including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, and all your favorite poker games, including Let-It-Ride, over 1900 slots and the most exciting, a chance to win megabucks jackpot at a penny slot. This is Steve Wynn’s brainchild a $10,000,000.00 penny slot machine. Watch out for the stampede to Wynn Las Vegas.

Las Vegas,or as it’s otherwise known “Sin City,” is well known as the casino town and it is the city’s main attraction. However, more and more tourists are seeing Las Vegas as more than just a gambling town and the non-gaming revenue for Las Vegas and other casino towns are growing. For amazing acrobatics, see Cirque Du Soleil at the MGM Grandor the “O” Cirque du Soleil show at the Bellagio. For music, see Celine Dion at Caesar’s Palace or Barry Manilow at the Las Vegas Hilton. Many families with children vacation to Las Vegas and the city has plenty to offer for kid fun. First of all, there is the hotel pools and poolside food and beverage service. Kids can play for hours in the pool and adults can sit poolside chatting, drinking and eating. For adult and kid fun, visit the roller coasters at New York – New York, the Stratosphere Tower and Casino and the Adventuredome, a 5.5-acre indoor amusement park at Circus Circus Casino. Casinos also have extensive arcades and midway games for additional entertainment. There also are animal shows, zoos and aquariums on and off the Strip like the Lion Habit at at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino or the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Shopping

From casino shops and small shopping galleries to mini malls, there is tons of shopping to do, even if it is just window shopping. Consider the Forum Shops or Appain Way Shops at Caesar’s Palace, the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, and the Via Bellagio at the Bellagio for casino-close shopping. For designer clothing, visit the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas, for the mall atmosphere visit Boulevard Mall, which is just minutes from the Strip and last for specialty shops and tantalizing restaurants go to the Desert Passage.

Outdoor fun (golf courses)

Need to get out of the always dark and flashy casinos? Las Vegas offers wonderful outdoor activities from great golf courses to balloon riding, horseback riding and hiking. Areas like the Red Rock National Conservation Area and the Grand Canyon National Park are not too far of a drive away. Of course, if you don’t want to wander too far from the Strip, casinos do have outdoor spectacles like the volcano at the Mirage Casino, the fountains at the Bellagioand the pirate battle at Treasure Island.

Spas

You’re on vacation, treat yourself! Head to the newly built Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa for relaxation – it’s only 10 miles from the Strip. Try other spas like the Artisan Hotel and Spa, The Westin Casuarina Hotel, Casino and Spa, JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort and Spa and The Platinum Hotel and Spa, to name a few. Las Vegas has everything to offer, from the glitzy world-class entertainment to the fine dining and shopping experiences; from the golf and tennis to the museums and art shows—Vegas has something for everyone.

Vacationing in Vegas can be confusing and expensive. Package holidays provide a hassle-free and economical holiday experience, where one does not need to bother with details such as airlines and room rates. There are hundreds of packages to choose from, offered by different companies and varying depending upon the number of days and the budget. Some packages include just lodging; others include meals, some gaming, and sightseeing. It all depends upon individual preferences.

For example, a two-day and three-night getaway package may start from $99 per person for a modest hotel such as the Casino Royale; it may include some complimentary casino gaming tickets, free buffet, and two sightseeing tours. The room will offer a king- or queen-sized bed, in-house complimentary coffeemaker, and a safe. Airfare and lodging during low season might be available for under $150.On the other hand, grand opulence and sheer luxury may be enjoyed at the high-end hotels such as the Bellagio Las Vegas for about $200 a night. A luxury delight, with its front fountain courtyards, mind-blowing spas, and award winning restaurants, The Bellagio is just one among the many luxury resorts for the upper-end traveler.

Most tourists with families prefer all-inclusive packages, which means that they have their entire tour planned out for them. Their package includes the airfare, hotel stay, all meals, and sightseeing. This basically enables the adults to enjoy the wonders of the casinos while the kids have their itineraries planned out for them. There are many websites that offer package-tour reservations along with valuable information for any traveler.

There’s More To Vegas Than Gambling

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on June 2, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

If your idea of an excellent vacation is to frolic all night and gamble your cares away at the card or crap tables, then Las Vegas is an absolute desert paradise for you. But even if you aren’t a gambling person, Las Vegas still has much to offer in the realm of recreation and entertainment.

Walk the famous Strip any time of day and your senses will be in awe of the many impressive sights and sounds that line this famous boulevard. The big hotel-casinos gleam and glisten 24 hours a day, inviting tourists and passers-by to sample their unique delights. For example, the Bellagio boasts of those impressive fountains that glide and sway in a choreographed dance set to music every 15 minutes. Living up to its name, The Flamingo provides a captivating showcase of real-life flamingoes and penguins. If you are fascinated with wild animals, then you will love the MGM Grand and its lion habitat where visitors can have an up-close and personal view of several lions. The Mirage has its own erupting volcano and a white tiger enclosure within the casino as well as a huge aquarium where you can view the dolphins for free.

Moving off the Strip, you can’t miss the Las Vegas Hilton’s offering of “Star Trek: The Experience,” which includes two well-themed attractions with simulator rides & live actors in Trek costumes. There’s also a Star Trek walk through museum and a “Quarks” bar. An hour’s drive from Las Vegas will take you to the breathtaking Hoover Dam and driving down a little further leads to Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston, the local ski resort.

For those who love shows, there’s the “Masquerade Show in the Sky” at the Rio, which is best described as a mix between Mardi Gras floats and the Rio de Janeiro Carnival, and the “Sirens of Treasure Island,” a free adult-oriented show complete with showgirls and hunky pirates. Perhaps the best part about these particular shows is that you can enjoy them free of charge.

For a bigger and better picture of what Vegas has to offer – such as its Broadway-style productions, concerts, and other awesome venues such as the Blue Man Group, the Folies Bergere, Buck Wild and others – you might want to check out the many websites dedicated to this desert mecca. It’s never too early to start planning that Vegas vacation.

Bellagio Hotel & Casino – Best Place to Stay in Las Vegas

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on May 31, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

The Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas is one of the most impressive resort hotels in the world. Built by Steve Wynn, no expense was spared in its construction. The hotel rooms at Bellagio are among the most comfortable you will find in any hotel. Only the Four Seasons at Mandalay Bay, the Venetian, and Wynn’s Las Vegas hotels provide comparable hotel accommodations in Las Vegas.
The beds are to die for. Piled high with pillows, with one of the most comfortable mattresses we’ve ever slept on, the beds scream luxury. Super comfortable sheets don’t hurt. The bathrooms are extremely nice as well. They come with huge tubs, double sinks, and a separate shower.

The hotel rooms at the Bellagio Las Vegas are not as fancy as the rooms at the Venetian Hotel, and they are not as modern as those at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel, but they are probably more classy than both, and are more comfortable.

One of the best attributes of the Bellagio is the superior service you will find at every turn. From the waiters and waitresses, to the front desk staff, to the casino dealers, you won’t find more helpful and friendly people in Las Vegas. The service has fallen off a little since MGM Mirage took over from Steve Wynn, but it’s still the best service in Las Vegas.

If you visit Las Vegas, whether you get a hotel room at the Bellagio or not, make sure you stop by to see their fabulous Cirque du Soleil show, “O”. The title of the show is a play on words. The French word for water is “eau,” which is pronounced like our letter “O”. The name is fitting because the stage is a huge adjustable pool. The prices are high, and tickets are hard to come by, but both the money and the hassle are worth it. This is one of the best shows performed anywhere in the world. Call ahead and reserve your tickets.

Here’s the restaurant rundown:
Best steakhouse in Las Vegas: Prime at Bellagio
Best Asian restaurant in Las Vegas: Jasmine at Bellagio
Best casual Asian food in Las Vegas: Noodles at Bellagio
Best sushi in Las Vegas: Shintaro at Bellagio
Best cafe in Las Vegas: Bellagio Cafe
Top 5 fancy French restaurant in Las Vegas: Picasso at Bellagio

The bottom line is that Bellagio offers the best restaurants in Las Vegas. It offers the best service in Las Vegas. It also offers one of the best casinos and some of the best hotel rooms in Las Vegas. It is far and away our pick for the best place to stay and play in Las Vegas.

Why You Should Choose Las Vegas as Your Next Vacation Spot

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on May 30, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

Las Vegas (otherwise known as “sin city” to some) is not the same place it was ten years ago. Today Las Vegas has many things that vacationing families will find attractive such as sites to see, plays, musicals, concerts, sport tournaments and much more.

One of the many things to check out in Las Vegas would be Circus Circus. They have a big indoor circus for littler children. Treasure Island, another great attraction, has a really cool pirate show that is addicting to watch over and over.

The Stratosphere Tower is another awesome site to see. Atop the tower there are some cool things to do, such as reverse bungee jumping or riding the world’s highest roller coaster. For those of you that are not familiar with reverse bungee jumping it is definitely unique; you get shot up into the air 160 feet at 45 miles per hour and then come zooming back down at high speeds.

Las Vegas usually has affordable lodging in good locations close to the Strip.

Appreciate a good meal? Try dinners at Emeril’s! The food is delicious and is a one-time experience for most. For music lovers they also have the Liberace museum which pays tribute to one of the greatest musicians to ever live.

Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert, so the temperature in summer often breaks 100 degrees. While in the area you might even want to check out the desert.

Make sure you keep hydrated and cool. After all it would not be a good vacation if you came down with heat stroke!

When the temperature gets too hot do not forget to try the pools or spas at some of the finest hotels around. The pool at the Mirage hotel is supposed to be one of the finest around – do not hesitate to jump in for some great fun!

If you are considering a vacation to Las Vegas, it is important to realize that the city of Las Vegas has much more to offer than just casinos. No longer known for just gambling, Las Vegas has fashioned itself into an all around tourist destination. Today, the streets of Las Vegas are filled with business people, families, honey moon couples and even senior citizen tour groups.

If you go to Las Vegas and spend all of your time in the casinos, you will be missing out on a lot that the area has to offer. There are many tours available for you to choose from to ensure that you see all of the areas treasures.

Grand Canyon
Las Vegas offers several choices of tours of the Grand Canyon. You won’t see a more spectacular view than at the Grand Canyon! To go to Las Vegas, and not tour the Grand Canyon would be like going to New York City and not viewing the Statue of Liberty! Your vacation to Las Vegas simply would not be complete without a tour of the Grand Canyon. Many of the Grand Canyon tours include a bonus stop at the Hoover Dam. Or the vacationer can choose to take separate tours of the Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam to ensure that they have plenty of time to enjoy the wonders of each of them.

While in Las Vegas, be sure to check out the Bonnie & Clyde Getaway Car! This display, located at Primm Valley Resort & Casino not only includes the original car that the infamous robber couple of the 1930s died in, but also several other things which once belonged to Bonnie and Clyde.

Conservatory
Another place you may wish to visit while enjoying your Vegas vacation is the Conservatory at Bellagio. Crafted by a team of 100 horticulturalists, the Bellagio’s conservatory features elegant, elaborate arrangements of plants and flowers in its bright, airy atrium. This is a wonderful attraction that the whole family can enjoy!

Ethel M Chocolate Factory
Who wouldn’t love to visit the Ethel M Chocolate Factory? Ethel M Chocolates caters to the sweet tooth in us all! Located just seven miles from the Las Vegas Strip, the free admission entices many visitors to the factory. At the candy factory you will get a behind the scenes look at the candy making process as well as the opportunity to do some sampling!

Fountains
The Fountains at Bellagio are a must see Las Vegas free attraction. In the early evening hours, a water and music show plays again and again in the incredible fountains filling the quarter mile long lake located in front of the Bellagio. Another wonderful fountain display can be found at the Fountain shows at Caesars. No civilization has ever put on a greater spectacle than ancient Rome, and now visitors to Las Vegas have a chance to witness the glory for themselves at the Caesars Palace’s fountain shows.

The Las Vegas Strip does have some of the best casinos in the world, and you definitely want to check them out while you are there. However, it is important to remember that your Las Vegas vacation can include so much more than just spending time at the casinos!

Cheap Las Vegas?
The most affordable way to get to Las Vegas is through vacation packages, not just any vacation packages but last minute vacation packages. There are many travel merchants which serve as clearinghouses for last minute cancellations, promotional offers and unsold/undersold flights and hotels. They will re-package these unsold inventories offering you a cheaper deal than if you would to buy these on your own separately.

Las Vegas Tours

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on May 27, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

A veritable mecca for tourists, the apple of Nevada’s eye is Las Vegas. Las Vegas is synonymous with excitement for people of all ages, from all walks of life looking to escape reality and hoping to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Popularly called “Sin City,” rather affectionately even, the mere mention of its fantastic casinos sends frissons of thrill up any gambler’s spine! Named by Rafael Rivera, Las Vegas means “the meadows”. Lying in the valley with the Spring Mountains to the west, —with disappearing native tribes and numerous settlers who have come and gone— this city with its springs became important with the emerging railroads. The Hoover Dam helped increase the population, as did its connections to Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Overcoming early legal glitches, today it has become one of the most visited places in the United States.

Seek any form of entertainment or recreation, and you will surely find it here: grand hotels/casinos based on exotic themes, like the Luxor or Excalibur; Bellagio’s fountains, Mandalay Bay’s Shark reef, Stratosphere’s tower, Paris, Circus Circus, Rio, Mirage, Venetian, Madame Tussauds, and cars at Caesar’s Palace, and so many more attractions on the Strip. Off the Strip, one can find varied museums, Mario Andretti’s rides, etc.

Las Vegas tours take tourists to nearby sights like the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. You can choose anything from helicopters to bikes. Within Las Vegas itself, there are many options—Las Vegas Neon Night On The Town City Tour (Bus), Late night scenic helicopter tours, Red Rock and Valley Of Fire Tours, Neon Nights Limousine Tour, and so many more. You can choose your mode of transportation: air, ATV tours, boat, bus, jet ski, raft, racecars, Hummer, and others, with every company trying to be more creative and exciting than the other. If one has the time and spirit of adventure, be sure not to miss these tours.

Best Shows In Las Vegas

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on May 27, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

Las Vegas is the Entertainment Capital of not only the US, but also the world. Such a wide variety of shows are available here that it often becomes difficult to choose the “best” show that is right for you. This is also because there are not one or two, but hundreds of shows that feature the best of the business. In fact, the choice or categorization of the best shows also depends on what kind of entertainment you are looking for.

If you are travelling with children, don’t forget to take them to some of the great magic shows presented by master magicians here. Often the children sitting among the audience are invited on the stage to assist the magician. Some of the magicians have theatres named after them and they deliver mind-blowing illusions at a very reasonable price.

There are several productions in the city year-round that cater to the demand of those who have a passion for comedy. Some of the best comedians have polished their craft in the lounges of this city, going on to make it big internationally. And if you want to see a world class circus, there is more than one choice for you in Las Vegas.

As far as traditional Las Vegas shows are concerned, some have been running non-stop for a record number of years, with sets worth millions of dollars. And of course, there is no dearth of the best of the best for those who are looking forward to some raunchy adult shows in “Sin City”.

Lose Yourself In Las Vegas

Posted in Las Vegas with tags on May 26, 2008 by letsgo2vegas

It seems unlikely that a city could spring up in the middle of the desert, much less a city of such energy, color and non-stop entertainment that it attracts upwards of 35 million visitors every year, but no one ever said that Las Vegas was normal. It’s not even very predictable, meaning that it seems to exist in a state of constant movement and change. In other words, even if you’ve been to this sparkling and somewhat hypnotic destination before, another visit could reveal an entirely different experience altogether.

So whether it’s your first time or your twenty first, there’s no possible way that you’ll suffer even one minute of boredom while you’re here. From golf to shopping, shows to, of course, casino hopping, there’s just no chance for a dull moment to arise. Many people come here to relax but end up avoiding the typical rejuvenating scenarios like sleeping a lot and lounging around. Instead, Las Vegas travelers tend to recharge their batteries by playing, partying and distracting their minds from work and responsibility by means of constant stimulation. This works just as well as the other brands of vacation you’ve so far experienced; curiously, you just don’t need as much sleep when you’re in this town.

If you want to get your poker or slot machine fix, you can approach it one of two ways. Either research a little bit, choosing the places that most appeal to you based on their history or decorative scheme (which could range from high-class to schmaltzy) or if you’re more of an adventurer, just hit the strip. Take a walk along the most famous street in the city and let the sights and sounds widen your eyes and ring in your ears. You may be nearly overwhelmed if you try to see everything all at once, so do yourself a favor and try to focus on each whirring, buzzing place individually as you decide which will be the site of your first (or second, or third) hand of cards.

If you’re more interested in a holistic Las Vegas vacation and not just a gambling-focused one, you’ll probably have to prioritize the many things you’ll want to do and then hope you get to them all. Not to burst your bubble, but this probably just isn’t possible. Book a spa day if you’d like to try a full-body massage or if your feet are in need of a pampering pedicure, and be aware that this is the place to be to try any of the newest skin treatment technologies. Men and women alike tend to look their best in this appearance-oriented city.

Stay in shape at a fitness facility or burn a few calories on the golf course; there are dozens to choose from, many of them considered to be the most beautiful and well-maintained in the world. After you’ve worked up an appetite and justified it to yourself, you’ll definitely want to splurge on a marvelous meal. Las Vegas is known for its vibrant culinary scene and array of delectable restaurant offerings, so get ready to eat well and be amazed.

There’s always some show or another going on here, from traveling acts to traditional favorites. Plan your trip to coincide with a concert of your favorite band, who’s likely been here more than once, or stop by one of the nightly shows filled with acrobatic wonders, feathery fun, or dancing extravaganzas. Las Vegas is all about the concept of the spectacle, and what better way to enjoy this than by settling into a plush chair before a brightly lit stage?

Those of you with a wild side will be faced with a number of temptations, so be ready for anything from an impromptu wedding to a karaoke challenge. Some people end up staying up all night winning and losing money, others would probably prefer not to say what it was that kept them awake until the break of dawn. Alibis and excuses tumble from just about everyone’s mouths here, so be ready with a few of your own (or at least bring someone along who shares your inclinations).

Play it safe or be a little mischievous, Las Vegas will keep your secrets safe while showing you an incredible time. And, while hotels line the streets along with casinos and flashing signs, consider treating yourself to a vacation rental. It’s not the usual way to do things, but then again, there is no such thing as “unusual” in this crazy place. The bottom line is that there are hundreds of vacation properties, each with its own personality and level of luxury that can be found in and around Las Vegas. You won’t regret at least checking these desert-style homes and spacious new condos out online.
